Islamabad( The COW News Digital)Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, has stressed the importance of waiting for police evidence before reaching any conclusions regarding the arrest of Aleema Khan’s son in connection with the May 9 cases.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Chaudhry described the May 9 cases as “highly complex in nature,” underscoring that such legal matters cannot be judged hastily. “It is vital to let the judicial and investigative process unfold,” he said, urging the public and media to avoid speculation until the facts are fully established.

According to the minister, police moved against Aleema Khan’s son only after gathering credible evidence. He clarified that all legal requirements were followed and that the suspect was produced before a court within 24 hours of his arrest. “The police acted on the basis of evidence, not pressure,” Chaudhry asserted, dismissing claims that authorities had deliberately delayed the arrest.

Some political circles, he acknowledged, were attempting to create the impression that law enforcement agencies had hesitated or acted late. “The reality,” Chaudhry explained, “is that police reached him later, but only after fulfilling the due process of law and collecting substantial proof.”

The minister also raised a critical question: “Were Aleema Khan’s sons present during the May 9 demonstrations or not?” He reminded the nation that several individuals involved in those violent incidents should have faced justice much earlier. However, he admitted that the legal process and the nature of evidence slowed down proceedings, leading to prolonged trials.

Chaudhry firmly reiterated the government’s position that no one, regardless of their political or social stature, is above the law. “The principle of rule of law will prevail, and equal treatment will be extended to every citizen,” he declared.

The May 9 cases, stemming from violent protests and attacks on state properties across Pakistan, have been a focal point of political and legal debate. The arrests and subsequent trials of individuals allegedly involved continue to test the country’s legal and political frameworks, drawing strong reactions from both government and opposition.

Chaudhry concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the government remains committed to ensuring justice through lawful means, while also calling for patience as the courts deliberate on evidence presented by investigators.
