Islamabad (News Desk): PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui clarified that the ongoing negotiations are strictly between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while refraining from commenting on any behind-the-scenes factors.
Speaking on a private TV channel, Siddiqui stated that PTI initially expressed a desire to involve the establishment in talks. However, he emphasized that no progress can be made until PTI submits its demands in writing. “PTI has until January 2 to formally present its demands, after which the situation will become clearer,” he said.
Addressing concerns about setbacks in the negotiation process, Siddiqui remarked, “If a single press conference leaves PTI disappointed, it doesn’t mean we should abandon the negotiation table.”
The PML-N Senator assured that there are no restrictions from their side, adding, “PTI can bring one demand or ten, they have ample time until January 2 to document their concerns.” He urged PTI to approach the dialogue with an open mind, stressing that constructive negotiations are a cornerstone of democracy.
Siddiqui expressed optimism, stating, “If talks reach a conclusion before January 31, it will be a positive outcome. We are willing to continue facilitating PTI in the future.” He also indicated a willingness to accommodate specific PTI requests, such as arranging meetings with their party founder, if necessary.
On the topic of the Army Act, Siddiqui noted, “The Army Act is a creation of the Parliament, and its implementation is within our democratic framework.”
