HBO has announced an open casting call for its upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ television series, seeking talented young actors to play the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. The casting call is open to children residing in the UK or Ireland, aged 9-11 in April 2025, and emphasizes inclusive casting, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and abilities.

This commitment to diversity and inclusivity follows criticism of the franchise due to author J.K. Rowling’s controversial views on transgender rights. In contrast, original cast member Daniel Radcliffe has been a vocal supporter of the trans community.

The search for the new trio is underway, with filming set to begin early next year. Francesca Gardiner, producer of ‘Succession’, will lead the project, with Mark Mylod, another ‘Succession’ alum, contributing as writer and director.

Notably, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the original series, has expressed interest in returning, albeit with a humorous mention of a hefty price tag.
