ISLAMABAD :Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Shira Afzal Marwat stated that General (R) Faiz Hamid will have to account for his actions himself. He also mentioned that the government is engaged in talks with PTI at some level.

Marwat referred to General Faiz Hamid as a figure who benefited everyone post-Pakistan’s independence, describing him as an “eternal Faiz” whose impact would continue regardless of the individual. He responded to comments made by PPP leader Sherry Rehman, who said that Faiz Hamid’s influence on PTI was diminishing, interpreting her words as implying that PTI’s time had passed and that Rehman’s political group’s time was now.

On the issue of General (R) Faiz being associated with PTI, Marwat stated that the former ISI chief must answer for his actions. He also commented on the controversial charge sheet from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), noting that it raises specific allegations but is still politically ambiguous. According to Marwat, ISPR’s press release seemed like a political statement, making it difficult to draw conclusions.

Marwat rejected the notion that PTI had initiated talks following Faiz Hamid’s arrest. He emphasized that the head of ISI does not independently make deals, as all negotiations are initiated at the highest levels. Marwat questioned the absence of former Army Chief General Bajwa from the ongoing discussions.

The PTI lawmaker also criticized the government’s response to the May 9 incident, clarifying that no member of the armed forces had provided assistance during the event. He implied that if General Faiz Hamid had performed well, PTI would not have faced the challenges it did, and that his actions had caused significant issues for the party.

Addressing the November 26 protests, Marwat condemned the attacks on government buildings but emphasized that property damage could never outweigh the importance of human life. He reiterated that talks between the government and PTI are ongoing, and some parties are trying to inject sophistication into the political discourse.

Lastly, Marwat pointed out the unequal treatment faced by PTI, stating that no political party had been obstructed in the same manner during the protests in Islamabad. He expressed that such actions by the state were unprecedented.
