LONDON: Pakistan’s opening batsman Saim Ayub has given his first statement following his medical check-up in London, confirming that his ankle injury is improving.
Ayub had an appointment with specialist Dr. David Redfern today, after undergoing a check-up at a clinic in Central London the previous day.
Speaking to the media after his second check-up on Thursday, Saim Ayub expressed relief, saying, “Doctors have informed me that my ankle is improving, and I can now put weight on my leg.”
He added that the test reports would be sent to the medical panel for further assessment.
Pakistan’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, who accompanied Ayub, also shared his optimism, stating, “Thank God, the situation is much better now. If surgery is needed, the medical panel will decide when that will happen.”
It is worth mentioning that Saim Ayub suffered the injury during Pakistan’s recent Test series in South Africa, specifically in the Cape Town Test. Following the injury, the PCB chairman directed that Ayub receive treatment in London.
