San Francisco( The COW News Digital) YouTube has rolled out a new feature aimed at improving the viewing experience by allowing users to hide end-screen video recommendations. The update is designed to let users watch videos without unnecessary interruptions, providing a more seamless experience.

According to Android Headlines, the feature introduces a “Hide” button that appears in the top-right corner of the video player near the end of a video. When tapped, it removes the recommended video cards that usually pop up during the final seconds of playback. For those who wish to see the suggestions again, a “Show” button can be used to bring them back.

One key detail is that this setting must be applied individually for each video. Users will need to manually hide recommendations every time they watch a new video if they prefer an uninterrupted ending.

In addition to this change, YouTube has also removed the hover-to-subscribe button from its desktop version due to its low usage. This feature, which allowed users to subscribe to a channel simply by hovering over its name, has now been discontinued in favor of other engagement tools.

YouTube says these updates are part of its ongoing effort to enhance user satisfaction and make the platform more user-friendly. The company has been gradually testing features that prioritize user control over content recommendations and playback options.

Digital experts suggest that this move may encourage longer watch times and reduce user frustration caused by intrusive prompts. Some viewers had long complained that end-screen recommendations covered important parts of videos, particularly in tutorials, music performances, and cinematic content where the last few seconds are crucial.

The change has been met with positive feedback from many users who value a distraction-free viewing experience. However, creators might have mixed feelings, as end-screen recommendations often serve as a way to promote additional content and increase channel engagement.

YouTube is expected to continue experimenting with similar features in the coming months to strike a balance between user experience and creator growth.

With this new feature, viewers now have more control over how they consume content, allowing them to decide whether to keep watching uninterrupted or explore suggested videos.
