The Meteorological Department has stated that temperatures in Karachi are expected to drop further, bringing severe cold on Sunday and Monday (December 29 and 30).
According to the Early Warning Center’s forecast, Karachi’s minimum temperature could fall to single digits, possibly as low as 8°C. Additionally, easterly/northeasterly winds are expected to blow over the city in the coming days, keeping the weather cold and dry.
Sindh’s Cold Wave
The severe cold wave continues across Sindh. Nighttime temperatures in various districts could drop to between 3°C and 5°C. Upper and central districts may also experience foggy conditions during the morning hours.
Karachi Records Coldest Night of the Year
The Meteorological Department reported that Karachi experienced its coldest night of the year last night, with the official weather station recording a minimum temperature of 8.5°C. In Gulistan-e-Jauhar, the temperature dropped further to 6.5°C.
Previously, Karachi’s lowest recorded temperature was 3.1°C on December 14, 1986.
