Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a three-day period of mourning following the violent crackdown on protesters on November 24.
Provincial Minister for Law, Aftab Alam Afridi, condemned the brutality, revealing that the province’s Chief Executive was also targeted with direct gunfire during the unrest.
According to Afridi, the protests from November 25 to 27 were peaceful, yet the demonstrators faced severe violence.
“In light of this tragic incident, the KP government declares three days of mourning,” the law minister said.
The government has urged citizens to remain calm and has called for justice for the victims of the violence.
