The Islamabad Accountability Court will announce its verdict tomorrow in the £190 million reference case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. The decision will be delivered in a hearing at Adiala Jail, with Judge Nasir Javed Rana presiding over the case.

The court had previously postponed the hearing due to holidays and course schedules, announcing that the judgment would be delivered on January 6.

On December 18, after hearing the arguments, Judge Nasir Javed Rana had reserved the decision in the case.

Case Background

The £190 million case, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust case, alleges that Imran Khan and his wife received billions of rupees and land worth hundreds of kanals from Bahria Town Limited in exchange for legalizing a sum of 50 billion rupees sent by the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the UK to the Government of Pakistan during the PTI government.

The case centers around the alleged illegal acquisition of land for the Al-Qadir University and its construction, with involvement from Malik Riaz and his family. The NCA’s investigation into money laundering involving Bahria Town and the recovery of £140 million is also linked to the case.

Imran Khan is accused of misleading the cabinet by concealing details about the settlement agreement related to the £140 million, which was meant to be deposited in the national treasury but was instead adjusted against Bahria Town Karachi’s outstanding dues of 450 billion rupees.
