Washington(TheCOWNews Digital)The United States has issued a stern warning to Iran, declaring that any attacks targeting American citizens, military bases, or critical infrastructure will result in “severe consequences.” The warning comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian soil and Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks.
During a session of the United Nations Security Council, the U.S. delegation defended Israel’s right to self-defense, stating that the Israeli strikes on Iran were necessary for national security. The U.S. also reiterated its firm stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“If Iran dares to strike American interests—be it citizens, bases, or vital assets—the response will be swift and decisive,” a U.S. spokesperson stated. The message emphasized that Washington remains committed to protecting its people and strategic interests in the region.

Amid this high-stakes backdrop, U.S. President Donald Trump took to social media to once again urge Iran to return to the nuclear negotiating table. Trump revealed that Iran was previously given a 60-day ultimatum to reach a new deal on its nuclear program—an offer that has since lapsed.
“Day 61 has passed,” Trump posted. “Iran was close to a deal, but failed to follow through. I warned them that failure would lead to consequences far worse than they expected.”
Trump claimed that the U.S. and Israel possess some of the world’s most devastating weapons, and that Israel is fully capable of using them if provoked. He further noted that several Iranian leaders who once resisted diplomacy are now “gone,” and the situation is deteriorating rapidly.
He concluded with a chilling warning: “The next phase is planned, and it will be far more ruthless than before. Iran must choose diplomacy before nothing is left. May God protect you all.”
