USA:( The COW News Digital)-The United States has called recent moves by several countries to recognize Palestine as a state “symbolic gestures” rather than meaningful progress toward peace.
Speaking to the media, the U.S. State Department said that its priority remains “serious diplomacy, not symbolic announcements,” emphasizing that peace, Israel’s security, and the release of hostages remain at the core of U.S. policy.
The statement further noted that lasting peace and prosperity in the region are only possible without Hamas.
This comes as Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada have recently recognized Palestine as a state, and France is set to formally do so today. Ahead of the announcement, Palestinian flags were displayed on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, signaling France’s support.
French President Emmanuel Macron also criticized Israel’s ongoing strategy against Hamas, saying it has failed and damaged Israel’s global image. He reiterated that a two-state solution is essential for sustainable peace in the region.
