The United States accidentally shot down its own fighter jet in the Red Sea. U.S. officials have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to foreign news agencies, the U.S. Central Command stated that both pilots of the accidentally downed aircraft survived, although one sustained minor injuries.
U.S. military officials explained that the FA-18 Hornet jet was passing near a U.S. ship in the Red Sea when the missile from the USS Cruise Gatesburg mistakenly hit and downed the aircraft.
It is noteworthy that the Red Sea has become a military hub over the past year, with U.S. forces targeting Houthi rebel positions to prevent attacks on naval ships by the Houthi militants in Yemen.
