A Lahore district court has granted a four-day physical remand of TV anchor Orya Maqbool Jan, accused of spreading religious hatred and making disrespectful remarks against state institutions. The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing arrested Jan for his alleged social media posts related to the Mubarak Sani case.

Jan’s lawyer, Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, opposed the 14-day remand request, arguing that the charges are “false and baseless” and that the FIA lacks evidence. Jan also addressed the court, questioning the necessity of his remand and stating that he had provided the FIA with his social media passwords.

The FIA’s investigation officer countered that the accusations are valid and that Jan was uncooperative during the investigation. Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid approved a four-day remand, instructing the FIA to submit an investigation report at the end of the remand period.
