USA:( The COW News Digital)-Hamas has declared it will not surrender its weapons until the creation of a fully independent Palestinian state. Senior leader Mohammad Nazzal stated that Israel’s demand for disarmament before statehood is unacceptable, emphasizing that no liberation movement in history has ever laid down arms before achieving freedom.Nazzal cited struggles in South Africa, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Algeria, and Ireland as examples where resistance groups only disarmed after independence. He confirmed that Hamas would only give up its weapons once a sovereign Palestinian state is established.He also revealed that Hamas is reviewing the 20-point peace plan recently presented by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes a ceasefire, prisoner exchange, phased Israeli withdrawal, Hamas disarmament, and the creation of an interim government. Hamas is expected to announce its formal stance soon.
Trump has reportedly given Hamas a 3–4 day ultimatum to respond to the proposal. Past negotiations show Hamas has consistently demanded a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, a permanent ceasefire, and guarantees for displaced Palestinian families to return to their homes before agreeing to any peace plan.
