Washington, D.C.: Richard Grenell, the Special Envoy of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, revealed that the nominee for Secretary of State is ready to discuss Pakistan’s missile program. Grenell made the disclosure during an interview, highlighting the distinct approach required for dealing with nuclear-armed nations.
Speaking about Pakistan’s previous government, Grenell remarked that relations between Trump’s administration and the then-Pakistani government were excellent during Trump’s first term.
On the topic of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Grenell compared his political trajectory to Trump’s, noting that both leaders entered politics independently of traditional political dynasties. He reiterated his call for Imran Khan’s release, asserting that the charges against him are similar to the “false accusations” faced by Trump.
Grenell also criticized the current U.S. State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, describing his statements regarding Pakistan as overly complex. Grenell emphasized that the core issue remains the release of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister.
This comes amid heightened tensions after the U.S. imposed sanctions on four Pakistani companies, accusing them of involvement in the development of long-range ballistic missiles.
