Washington, D.C( The COW News Digital) U.S. President Donald Trump, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced a new Gaza ceasefire framework built on a sweeping 20-point plan aimed at ending months of conflict and paving the way for future peace.

According to a report verified by U.S. officials and published in The Washington Post, the proposal includes immediate cessation of hostilities, freezing of current battlefronts, and the release of all hostages. Within 48 hours of implementation, 20 living hostages are to be freed, while the remains of 24 deceased captives would be returned.

In return, Israel would release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences as well as 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023, including women and children. The plan further stipulates the destruction of Hamas’s offensive weapons, while offering amnesty to fighters who surrender. Safe passage would also be guaranteed for Hamas members choosing to leave Gaza.

Humanitarian relief is central to the initiative. Trump’s plan guarantees immediate aid delivery, equitable distribution, and protections against forced displacement. It ensures the right of displaced residents to return, while making clear that Hamas will hold no role in Gaza’s future governance.

Instead, a temporary interim authority, composed of Palestinians and international experts, would govern Gaza under the supervision of a new multinational body. Security would be reinforced through the deployment of an international force, preventing a security vacuum.

The plan outlines a vision for Gaza’s reconstruction under a long-term economic development agenda, tied to political reforms within the Palestinian Authority to prepare it for eventual governance. Israel, under the agreement, would commit to a phased withdrawal from Gaza, with no annexation or reoccupation permitted. The proposal also bars future Israeli strikes on Qatar, which has played a mediating role.

Trump said the roadmap provides a “credible path” toward Palestinian statehood once reforms and development benchmarks are achieved. The final stage envisions negotiations between Israel and Palestine toward a peaceful and prosperous coexistence.

In a notable development, Trump emphasized that the plan has received broad support from Muslim and Arab nations. He highlighted endorsements from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, who both pledged their backing for the initiative.

The ambitious framework, if implemented, could mark a historic turning point in the decades-long conflict — though skepticism remains over whether all parties will honor their commitments.
