Washington:President-elect Donald Trump has issued a stark warning, threatening to turn the Middle East into “hell” if Israeli hostages held by Hamas are not released before his inauguration on January 20.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump condemned the hostage crisis, calling it a crime against humanity. “Those responsible for these atrocities will pay the price,” he wrote, adding, “My administration will deliver a response unlike anything seen in American history.”
The former president’s fiery remarks have raised concerns about escalating tensions between Israel and Hamas, which have already been locked in a prolonged conflict.
Hamas Warns Israel
In a prior statement, Hamas revealed that 33 hostages have been killed over the past 14 months of conflict, with several others still missing. The group warned Israel to act swiftly, suggesting that delays could lead to dire consequences.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government has yet to issue a formal response regarding efforts to secure the hostages’ release. However, the mounting tension has further strained the already fragile situation in the region, with Trump’s ultimatum casting a shadow over any potential diplomatic resolution.
Analysts fear that Trump’s aggressive rhetoric could hinder ongoing international efforts to mediate a ceasefire and exacerbate an already volatile geopolitical landscape.
