VIRGINIA ( The COW News Digital) U.S. President Donald Trump declared on Sunday that a breakthrough in the Middle East is closer than ever, suggesting that a conflict he described as “three thousand years old” may soon reach a historic resolution.

Speaking to U.S. Navy personnel in Norfolk, Virginia, Trump hailed what he called a “remarkable peace process” now underway, pointing to progress in negotiations involving Israel, Hamas, and regional stakeholders. “Where there was once war in Gaza, there are now talks,” Trump told sailors. “Everyone agrees the peace plan requires no flexibility on its core principles, and this is truly historic.”

According to Trump, the negotiations could yield concrete results within the next two to four days, bringing hope to a region long plagued by instability. “The people are happy, the world is watching, and America is proud to be a part of this,” he said.

The president further emphasized that although minor adjustments to the plan may occur, the foundation of the agreement enjoys wide consensus. Trump has previously promoted his 20-point Gaza peace initiative, which Hamas recently accepted with some reservations. He described the latest developments as validation of his administration’s diplomatic push in the Middle East.

Beyond the peace talks, Trump used his address to praise the strength and resilience of the U.S. military, particularly the Navy SEALs. “There is no tougher force anywhere in the world than the U.S. Navy SEALs,” he asserted.

In a politically charged moment, Trump announced that U.S. service members would continue to receive their salaries despite the partial government shutdown. He pledged full support for equal pay raises across all branches of the military. “I stand for every American sailor and soldier,” he said, while blaming the ongoing shutdown on the Democratic Party. “The Democrats are like a fly sitting on the Republican shoulder,” he quipped, drawing laughter from the audience.

The president’s remarks come amid heightened anticipation in global capitals over the possibility of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas, following weeks of indirect talks. While skepticism remains among analysts about whether such a deep-rooted conflict can truly be resolved, Trump insisted that his administration’s initiative represents “the best chance for peace in generations.”
