Peshawar (News Desk) – On Sunday, on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, a tribute was paid to Additional Inspector General (AIG) Police Ashraf Noor Shaheed. AIG Ashraf Noor was martyred on the morning of Friday, November 24, 2017, in a suicide bombing. The attacker rammed his motorcycle into the vehicle carrying AIG Noor, which was heading towards the Central Police Office near the Zarghani Mosque at the turn between Hayatabad Phase I and II. Ashraf Noor died on the spot, while his gunman was injured.
AIG Ashraf Noor was born in 1963 in Gilgit-Baltistan. He joined the police force in 1989 and was promoted to the rank of BS-21 earlier this year. He was set to retire in 2023. Before being posted as AIG Headquarters, he was appointed as AIG Elite Force Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the anniversary of Additional IG Ashraf Noor’s martyrdom, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department issued a statement, describing AIG Noor as a principled and honest individual. The statement said that his sacrifice has renewed their commitment to work with courage. The KP Police will remain steadfast, and from the IGP to a constable, every police officer is prepared to sacrifice their life in the fight against terrorism.
