A devastating attack on a police convoy in Rahim Yar Khan’s katcha area has left 12 policemen martyred and seven others injured. The dacoits launched a rocket attack on two police vehicles that became stuck in accumulated rainwater in Machka, Sadiqabad. The attack has sent shockwaves across the country, with authorities declaring an emergency throughout the district.
The police vehicles were carrying approximately 20 officers when they came under attack. The bandits used rocket launchers to target the vehicles, resulting in the tragic loss of life. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar confirmed that the police vehicles were attacked with rocket launchers, leading to the martyrdom of 12 policemen and injuries to seven others.
The bodies and injured were rushed to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, where the condition of two cops is said to be critical. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of police officers in the attack and ordered an operation to rescue the missing officers. Maryam Nawaz has sought an immediate report from the IG Police and instructed that the injured officers be provided with the best medical care.
President Asif Ali Zardari has also condemned the attack on the police convoy and expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs. The tragic incident has raised concerns about the security situation in the region and the need for effective measures to protect law enforcement personnel.
