Murree, : The spell of intermittent snowfall in Murree and Galiyat has subsided, giving way to sunny skies, while in Azad Kashmir’s Grace Valley, the extreme cold has caused the River Neelum to freeze.
According to the Meteorological Department, while snowfall in Murree has stopped, cold winds persist. The improved weather conditions have drawn a surge of tourists eager to enjoy the chilly ambiance of the hill station. Roads and highways leading to Murree remain open, facilitating the influx of visitors. The temperature in Murree was recorded at 1°C over the past 24 hours.
Elsewhere, most regions across the country continue to experience cold weather, with mountainous areas facing severe conditions. Morning fog is expected in parts of Islamabad, the Potohar region, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Meteorological Department has also warned of dense fog in the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The heavy fog has led to partial closures of major motorways. The M2 motorway is closed from Kot Momin to Lilla Interchange for heavy vehicles, while sections of the M3 from Samundri to Darkhana and the M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan remain shut due to poor visibility.
Authorities have advised travelers to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly.
