Third Case of Monkeypox Confirmed in Pakistan, Patient in Stable Condition

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has confirmed the third case of monkeypox in Pakistan, in a 51-year-old man who recently returned from abroad. The patient, a resident of Peshawar, was identified during routine screening at the airport and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Services Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.

This case marks the third confirmed instance of monkeypox in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year, raising concerns about the virus’s spread in the region. The provincial Health Department is closely monitoring the situation, and contact tracing is underway to screen individuals who may have been in contact with the infected person.

The Ministry of Health has initiated measures to prevent further cases, including implementing an effective strategy to combat the spread of monkeypox and strengthening disease surveillance systems. The federal and provincial governments are collaborating to ensure stringent measures are in place to control the spread of the virus.

In a separate incident, a passenger arriving from Jeddah in Karachi has been suspected of carrying monkeypox and is undergoing medical examination.
