Islamabad:
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the relevant authorities for their prompt actions to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens from Syria.
The Prime Minister personally monitored this process and commended the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in developing a comprehensive plan for the evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Syria.
On the special directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the NDMA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated a joint flight operation for the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Syria. As part of this, 318 Pakistani citizens were brought to Islamabad from Beirut, Lebanon, via a chartered flight.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati for his significant cooperation in facilitating the return of Pakistanis through Beirut.
Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, and Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, welcomed the passengers at Islamabad International Airport.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the return of Pakistani citizens is a top priority for the government, and further actions in this regard will continue.
He stated that the government is committed to the safety and well-being of its citizens and will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure their protection.
The 318 Pakistani citizens arriving in Islamabad included pilgrims and others who had been transferred from Syria to Beirut, Lebanon, a day earlier.
