In a harrowing incident, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Dubai to Peshawar was forced to make an emergency landing due to a technical malfunction. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, sending shockwaves among the passengers and crew on board.
According to aviation sources, the aircraft developed a technical issue shortly after departing from Dubai International Airport. The pilots immediately alerted Dubai air traffic control, who instructed them to land the aircraft back at the airport. The plane landed safely after around 40 minutes, and all passengers were deplaned and moved to the lounge while the aircraft was being inspected.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of PIA flights and the maintenance of its aircraft. The airline has faced criticism in the past for its safety record, and this incident is likely to add fuel to the fire.
PIA spokesperson stated that the technical issue with the aircraft at Dubai Airport is being addressed, and Flight PK 284 is now expected to reach Peshawar by around 1:30 pm PST. However, the delay has caused inconvenience to passengers, many of whom were traveling for urgent reasons.
Meanwhile, administrative issues have caused six flights to be canceled and twelve others to be delayed. The canceled flights include PK 832 from Karachi to Jeddah, PF 125 and PF 126 from Islamabad to Karachi, PF 723 from Lahore to Dubai, and PK 261 from Islamabad to Abu Dhabi.
Delays were also reported on international flights from Istanbul to Karachi, with some flights facing delays of nearly 4 hours. Domestic flights were also affected, with delays ranging from 1 to 6 hours.
The incident has sparked a heated debate about the state of Pakistan’s national airline. Many are calling for improved safety measures and better maintenance of aircraft to prevent such incidents in the future.
