The 30-year-old suspect, identified as Mohammad Sharif Islam Shehzad, hails from Bangladesh. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 15-16, when the suspect attempted a robbery at Saif Ali Khan’s apartment in the Bandra area of Mumbai around 3 AM. The actor, however, fought back, foiling the robbery attempt.
During the altercation, the assailant stabbed Saif Ali Khan with a knife, inflicting six wounds, two of which were deep and one near his spinal cord. The actor has since been discharged from the hospital.
Mumbai police confirmed that the suspect is a former national-level wrestler in Bangladesh. Investigations revealed that the assailant used his physical strength to launch multiple attacks on the actor, resulting in significant injuries.
Reports also indicate that the suspect has previously been accused of stealing a diamond ring.
