Seoul: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has announced the imposition of martial law in a late-night televised address, stating that the move was necessary to protect the country from “communist forces.”

In his live broadcast to the nation, President Yoon said, “To safeguard a free South Korea from the threats posed by North Korea’s communist forces and to eliminate anti-state elements… I hereby declare emergency martial law.”
