Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheer Afzal Marwat has accused certain individuals abroad of using the party for personal financial gain, claiming they are tarnishing PTI’s reputation and spreading misleading propaganda.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan, Marwat emphasized the importance of meeting the party’s leader in prison for the ongoing negotiations. He pointed out that the Lahore High Court had issued orders for unhindered meetings, underlining the necessity of such interactions for moving forward in talks.
He added that PTI had shown flexibility at the negotiation table and was open to discussions. However, Marwat expressed concerns about certain elements overseas who, he said, were using PTI for monetary purposes while engaging in harmful propaganda against the party.
“Some individuals abroad are damaging PTI’s reputation. They are also targeting the media and journalists,” he said.
Marwat further criticized the current Superintendent of Adiala Jail, alleging that the new superintendent had made life difficult for Imran Khan. He claimed that he was denied permission to meet the PTI leader, and announced plans to file a petition against the jail superintendent for preventing the meeting.
“The new superintendent has made Imran Khan’s life miserable in prison. I will file a petition against him for denying me the chance to meet the founder of PTI,” Marwat stated.
