According to the Meteorological Department, 3 inches of snow has accumulated in the plains of Skardu and up to 1 foot in the higher areas. The snowfall has intensified the cold, with temperatures dropping to minus 13 in the plains and minus 18 in the higher areas.
Additionally, 90% of the upper areas have been cut off from Skardu due to the snowfall, and flights by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have also been canceled.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that the new snowfall will continue intermittently for the next 24 hours.
