The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued a notification following the approval of the President, confirming the appointment of six new judges to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the notification, Justices Hashim Kakar, Shafi Siddiqui, and Salahuddin have been elevated to the Supreme Court. Additionally, Justices Shakeel Ahmed, Aamer Farooq, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim have also been appointed as Supreme Court judges.
Furthermore, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has been appointed as an acting judge of the Supreme Court under Articles 181 and 175-A of the Constitution. Meanwhile, Justice Ejaz Swati has been named the acting Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court and will serve in this capacity until the appointment of a permanent Chief Justice.
The notification also states that Justice Junaid Ghaffar has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, while Justice Atiq Shah will serve as the acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.
Earlier, Justice Sarfraz Dogar was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
These appointments follow the recent approval by the Judicial Commission, which endorsed the elevation of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq to the Supreme Court and the appointment of Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb as an acting judge of the apex court.
