Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to file cases against individuals who fail to return official vehicles. A key decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet’s Sub-Committee on Austerity, chaired by Senior Minister Syed Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The meeting, held in Karachi, was attended by Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Ali Hassan Zardari, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Secretary GA Mohammad Nawaz Sohoo, and other officials.
The committee decided that individuals who do not return government vehicles or misuse them would be nominated for FIRs. In addition, the auction of abandoned government vehicles was also approved.
Discussions were held on controlling government vehicle use, petroleum, oil, and lubricant expenses, and auctioning off idle vehicles. The committee members emphasized the need for clear guidelines on vehicle allotment and regulation, with a focus on reducing unnecessary expenditure. They also suggested that the funds raised from the auctions be allocated to priority projects.
Sharjeel Inam Memon stressed the importance of curbing unnecessary use of official vehicles and reducing the rising costs of petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL). He further highlighted the need to ensure transparency in the auction process and to make efforts to minimize wasteful expenditure.
