Shreyas Iyer, who played a key role in India’s middle order during the 2023 Cricket World Cup, is ready to take on significant responsibility in the team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
Having scored 530 runs in 11 matches during the 50-over World Cup held in India, Iyer made it clear that he is willing to play at any position in the batting order for the Champions Trophy.
Iyer, a mainstay in India’s one-day international (ODI) lineup, has played in various middle-order positions and has consistently delivered strong performances since December 2017.
Speaking to ESPN, Iyer stated that he is prepared to bat at any position in the order. He praised his partnership with KL Rahul, highlighting their crucial contributions to India’s middle-order during the World Cup, although they both fell short in the final against Australia.
Iyer also expressed that being selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy would be a great honor for him.
