Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party Vice President and Senator Sherry Rehman has voiced grave concern over the prolonged closure of the main road in Kurram district, which has led to severe humanitarian challenges.

In a statement, Rehman expressed sorrow over the tragic deaths of 50 children due to a lack of medical supplies. “It has been 75 days since the Peshawar-Parachinar main road and other transportation routes in Kurram have been blocked,” she said.

Rehman highlighted the dire shortages of essential supplies in the area, including food, medicines, fuel, wood, and LPG. She called the situation critical, as the closure of the main road and the Afghan border routes has plunged the residents into a severe crisis.

She urged the conflicting parties to take steps toward reconciliation to ease the hardships faced by the citizens. Additionally, Rehman appealed to the federal and provincial governments, as well as all stakeholders, to urgently resolve the issue to prevent further loss of life.
