Rawalpindi, (News Desk) Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has urged those backing the government to reconsider their stance, warning that the current administration will lead them to ruin.

Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court, Rasheed said, “I have endured a 40-day ordeal and even spent time in jail twice. Dialogue is the way forward, not vengeance.” He called for the opening of prison doors, the establishment of a judicial commission, and the release of impoverished detainees languishing in jails.

Rasheed cautioned that Pakistan is heading toward a severe economic and investment crisis, describing the current environment as detrimental to the nation’s stability. “Ask the common man or even a street vendor, and they’ll tell you how dire the situation is. Our economy and investment prospects are crumbling,” he lamented.

The former federal minister distanced himself from the PTI, stating, “I have ties to only one individual, and I’m trying to maintain that relationship. I’m not a part of PTI; for questions about them, ask their leaders.”

He criticized the mounting number of cases against him, expressing frustration over the situation. “I appeal to the real decision-makers to open the gates, release prisoners, and form a judicial commission. Poor people are suffering in silence,” he said, urging for a shift in approach.

Rasheed emphasized the lack of public and institutional support for the current government, stating, “Even those supporting this administration should rethink, as they will sink with it.” He warned that significant decisions must be made in the coming weeks to address the growing international pressure, which he claimed is more against the government than the country itself.
