Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of National Assembly, Sheer Afzal Marwat, criticized Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, saying his language often incites provocation, even though those in power should demonstrate restraint and tolerance.

Marwat acknowledged Khawaja Asif as a shrewd politician but emphasized the need to give him a chance for dialogue. He further stated that PTI will sit for negotiations with the government committee again on January 2 and urged all political parties to focus on the issues of Pakistan rather than political gains.

The MNA stressed that negotiations are not a sign of weakness or compulsion, but before engaging in talks, both sides must control their language and behavior to ensure the process moves forward positively.

Earlier, Khawaja Asif had criticized PTI’s founder in a seminar in Lahore, stating that the politician who once raised slogans against American slavery is now seeking assistance from the U.S. He also mentioned that while he does not oppose negotiations between the government and PTI, history shows that only PML-N has always taken the initiative for talks.

The Defence Minister added that negotiations should take place, but it is crucial for both parties to understand each other’s intentions and ensure no side takes advantage. He expressed hope that the negotiations between the government and PTI would be successful to help the country overcome the current political crisis.
