Murree ( The COW News Digital)Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held a high-level consultative meeting in Murree on Sunday to discuss pressing national matters. The meeting also focused on proposed changes and possible expansion in the federal and Punjab cabinets.
According to sources, other members of the Sharif family also participated in the closed-door session, during which future governance strategies and performance evaluations of ministries were discussed in detail.
Nawaz Sharif reportedly emphasized the importance of prioritizing public welfare projects and lauded the accountability framework currently being applied to ministers and their respective departments. He stressed that cabinet performance must align with the needs of the public and urged swift implementation of developmental schemes.
The leaders also reviewed the recent monsoon devastation across various parts of the country, expressing sorrow over the loss of life and property. Nawaz Sharif directed the concerned authorities to expedite relief efforts and announced the preparation of a comprehensive relief package for affected families.
The Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister also discussed the urgent need to curb inflation, which has burdened citizens across the country. Nawaz Sharif instructed that a strict pricing mechanism be established and enforced to stabilize market rates and protect consumers from exploitative practices.
Sources further revealed that upcoming changes in the cabinet could involve performance-based reshuffling, with new faces likely to be inducted at both federal and provincial levels. The changes aim to inject fresh energy into governance and ensure delivery of public services in a timely and efficient manner.
Meanwhile, recent monsoon rains have claimed 13 more lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since June 26 to 216. The torrential rains have also caused significant damage to key agricultural crops like cotton, sugarcane, and rice—particularly in Punjab—putting the livelihoods of thousands of farmers at risk.
In light of the disaster, the government is also considering compensation and support for farmers affected by the destruction of crops due to flooding.
As the political leadership recalibrates its governance strategy, public expectation remains high for rapid relief measures, price control, and transparency in cabinet operations.
