In a stunning display of batting prowess, Samoan cricketer Darius Visser has broken the men’s T20I record for most runs scored in a single over, amassing 39 runs from six legal deliveries. This incredible feat surpasses the previous record of 36 runs, achieved by five other cricketers, including Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma.
Visser’s record-breaking over came during the T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers against Vanuatu, where he faced seamer Nalin Nipiko at Apia’s Garden Oval No. 2. The 28-year-old’s explosive innings included six boundary-clearing shots, with three no-balls adding to the tally.
Visser’s remarkable performance helped Samoa secure a ten-run victory over Vanuatu, with the Samoan cricketer contributing 132 runs from 62 deliveries, including 14 sixes and five boundaries. He also took a wicket in the second innings, finishing with figures of 1-29 from four overs.
This achievement marks a milestone for Samoan cricket, with Visser becoming the first player from the Polynesian nation to score a century at the international level. His impressive performance has put Samoa in contention for a spot in the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, which determines entries for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
