Pakistan’s newly-appointed T20I captain Salman Ali Agha expressed his determination to produce good result in the upcoming five-match series against New Zealand, starting tomorrow, The COW News
Addressing a press conference in Christchurch on Saturday, Salman Agha said “We arrived in New Zealand only to win matches.”
He went on to saying “We know that Pakistani cricket fans were disappointed with our performance and annoyed with us but despite of new players we are optimistic to win the series.”
He said that Christchurch wicket is green which will definitely help spinners so spinners should take full advantage of this opportunity.
Salman Agha said that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are quality bowlers and they will play vital role in the series.
He said that ups and downs are part of the game. Babar Azam and Rizwan played important role in winning cricket matches but now they will try with new combination, he added.
The newly-appointed captain said that “Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman are feeling better and we are hopeful that they will be available for the next cricket series. Surely, we miss them very much.”
Salman Ali Agha said that our goal is to build a strong cricket team for Asia Cup and World Cup.
Replying to question, Salman Ali Agha said that we will announce playing XI soon.
The first T20I of the five-match series is scheduled to be played at the Hagley Oval on Sunday, followed by the second and third matches on March 18 and 21, respectively.
Ahead of the first encounter, the Pakistani players underwent an extensive three-hour training session at the Hagley Oval ground. They had batting, bowling and fielding sessions under the supervision of the coaches.
The players also took part in an exercise drill before the training session.
