Saif Ali Khan Records First Statement with Police After Knife Attack

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has provided his first statement to the police eight days after he was attacked with a knife. The statement was recorded by Mumbai Police on January 23 at his residence, where the attack took place.

According to reports by The Times of India, Saif Ali Khan detailed the events of the attack in his statement and clarified how the assailant launched the attack, how he realized someone had entered his home, and where he and his family members were during the incident.

The actor explained that at the time of the attack, he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, were in their bedroom on the twelfth floor, while their two children, Taimur and Jeh (Jahangir Khan), were in separate rooms with the household staff. Saif recalled hearing the sound of their younger son Jeh crying, and upon rushing to his room, he was shocked to encounter the assailant.

Saif mentioned that the attacker initially attempted to assault their maid, but when he intervened, the assailant quickly turned on him and inflicted severe knife wounds. The maid managed to take the children upstairs while the attacker fled, leaving Saif severely injured. His family rushed him to the hospital in an emergency.

Saif stated that upon seeing him covered in blood, his family was terrified and began to cry, but there was no delay in getting him to the hospital.

Further details of the actor’s statement to the police have not been disclosed. Prior to this, his wife Kareena Kapoor had also recorded her statement with the police.

Following the attack on Saif Ali Khan, the police formed around 20 teams to investigate the matter and have recorded nearly three dozen statements. The actor’s statement was the latest to be recorded, which was done at his residence due to his ongoing recovery.

The attack occurred late on the night of January 16, when an intruder broke into Saif’s home and stabbed him, causing serious injuries. Saif underwent multiple surgeries at the hospital and was discharged on January 21, six days after the attack. Doctors have advised complete rest for the actor, and the police, taking his health into consideration, recorded his statement on January 23.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the attack, and police believe he may be a Bangladeshi national. However, the accused’s representative has denied these claims, asserting that the suspect is an Indian citizen and accusing the police of making him a scapegoat.
