Karachi : Renowned actress Sadia Imam has revealed that her entry into the showbiz industry was made possible by the encouragement and support of her paternal aunt (phuppo) and uncle. Speaking on a TV show, Sadia shared that it was her aunt and uncle who convinced her parents to allow her to pursue acting.
During a segment discussing the differences between maternal and paternal aunts, Sadia spoke highly of her phuppos, highlighting the immense love and care she received from her father’s five sisters. She noted that her phuppos never let her feel the absence of anything and treated her like their own child.
Sadia Imam credited her eldest aunt and uncle not only for focusing on her education but also for helping her refine her pronunciation and communication skills. It was their encouragement, she said, that paved the way for her career in the entertainment industry.
The actress emphasized that she never made a distinction between her maternal and paternal aunts, but her phuppos always held a special place in her life. She described them as parental figures who nurtured and guided her throughout her journey.
The remarks come days after actress Maryam Nafees stirred debate by expressing dissatisfaction with her own phuppo in a TV program, stating that while others may have loving aunts, hers was not among them.
