A three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine has come to an end, following which Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended a new offer for direct negotiations with Ukraine.

According to foreign news agencies, direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are scheduled to take place on May 15 in Istanbul, Turkey, with no preconditions attached. Putin expressed that Russia is seeking a peaceful resolution to the issue, but this can only be achieved if both parties are sincerely committed to the negotiation process.

President Putin stated, “We are looking for a solution that can establish lasting peace in the region, but for this to happen, Ukraine must come to the negotiating table with genuine intentions.”

Meanwhile, Turkish officials have confirmed their role in hosting the talks, reiterating their readiness to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson said, “We hope these negotiations will lead to the de-escalation of tensions and help protect human lives.”

During the ceasefire, there were no major clashes reported at the frontlines, although both sides accused each other of small-scale violations.
