Lahore(TheCOWNews Digital)Renowned Pakistani stage actress Rubi Anam made candid revelations during a recent television appearance, opening up about her personal life, past relationships, and career challenges.
Speaking on a private TV program, Anam stated that she never kept her romantic past hidden and was always honest with her husband before marriage. “I had several affairs and friendships before getting married, and I told my husband everything myself,” she admitted.
Anam emphasized that honesty has always been a part of her nature. “I never felt the need to hide anything. My husband knew all about my past, including a time when I was in love with a married man. My mother, however, refused to approve that match,” she revealed.
She also shared that her entry into the acting world was not welcomed by her family. “No one in my family supported my decision to become an actress. In fact, my engagement was called off due to my career choice,” she said.
Reflecting on her early life, Anam described herself as a tomboy. “I was always more comfortable dressing like boys, playing games, and adopting their style. I didn’t get along well with other girls,” she recalled.
Anam also discussed the changing dynamics of the stage drama industry. She lamented the decline in quality, saying, “Stage drama has lost its essence. It’s now reduced to dance performances. Most new girls focus only on dancing, rather than acting or storytelling.”
The actress, who delayed her marriage to focus on her career, said she is now happily married and content. “It may have happened late, but it was worth it. I’m very happy, and I started my marriage with honesty,” she concluded.
Rubi Anam’s openness about her life, both professional and personal, sheds light on the often harsh judgment faced by women in the entertainment industry. Her remarks highlight the societal pressures and personal sacrifices female artists endure while balancing personal relationships and public careers.
Her straightforward attitude and willingness to confront societal taboos resonate with many, especially in a cultural landscape that often demands silence on such matters.
