India:
Indian media reports suggest that Rohit Sharma, captain of India’s Test and One-Day International teams, has decided to retire from international cricket.
According to a report from The Times of India, Sharma is expected to announce his retirement after the conclusion of the five-match Test series against Australia.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials and selectors are reportedly aware of his decision, having already discussed it with the captain.
While the exact timing of the announcement remains unclear, it is expected that he will make the official declaration after the final Test match in Sydney.
Sharma appeared visibly shaken after India’s loss in the fourth Test against Australia, acknowledging the need to address his recent failures. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he managed to score only 31 runs across three Test matches.
