Rawalpindi: A local court in Rawalpindi has sentenced Muhammad Waseem to double life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 600,000 for setting his parents on fire and killing them over a domestic dispute, Dawn News reported.
The gruesome incident took place in 2022 and was registered at Dhamaial Police Station. Waseem was found guilty of pouring petrol on his parents and setting them ablaze following a family conflict.
Based on strong evidence and effective prosecution, the court handed down a severe punishment to the convict.
Incidents of violence stemming from domestic disputes are not uncommon in Pakistan. In a similar case in February 2021, a woman in Manga Mandi allegedly set her two young children on fire due to financial hardships.
According to Dawn Newspaper, the tragic incident occurred in Kot Asadullah village, where Rescue 1122 emergency services recovered the charred bodies of three-year-old Abdul Rehman and four-year-old Faizan from a small house after receiving reports of a fire.
