Rangers, Police Clear PTI Protesters from D-Chowk and China Chowk in Joint Operation
In a coordinated operation involving Rangers, Islamabad Police, and Punjab Police, D-Chowk and China Chowk were completely cleared of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters.
The protesters were pushed back to Kulsoom Plaza Chowk and Khyber Plaza Chowk, with heavy contingents of Rangers and Punjab Police now deployed at the cleared sites. Tear gas units have also been stationed on rooftops of nearby buildings to maintain control.
Arrests of protesters and intermittent tear gas shelling continue, while streetlights along Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, and adjacent roads have been turned off to prevent further unrest.
Government Rules Out Talks with Protesters
Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the government will not engage in negotiations with those staging sit-ins in Islamabad.
