Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs has addressed recent propaganda, stating that the Prime Minister responded to these claims today. He emphasized that the provincial government had launched an assault on the capital in the form of an armed mob, and questioned whether a judicial commission should be formed to investigate whether these groups were armed or not. He further suggested that if someone was injured due to gunfire, a case should be registered.
Regarding ongoing negotiations, the advisor said that the PTI negotiation committee should meet with the party’s founder, Imran Khan. He expressed hope that this meeting would take place on Saturday or Monday. He also emphasized that negotiations should continue without being influenced by negative perceptions and hoped that PTI would submit their written demands during the talks.
The advisor stressed that any ruling in cases against Imran Khan should not impact the negotiations. He clarified that the government had not asked PTI to suspend its civil disobedience movement before talks could resume, stating that negotiations were intended to resolve issues, not to be influenced by unrelated matters. He hoped that court decisions would not interrupt the negotiations.
He also mentioned that if PTI had submitted written demands earlier, discussions could have taken place sooner, but hoped that PTI would present their “Charter of Demand” next week.
On the issue of propaganda, the advisor claimed that funds were being spent in the US and Europe to spread anti-Pakistan narratives. He added that there were individuals within Pakistan working against the country, who were being supported by Indian and Jewish lobbies.
The advisor concluded by stating that Pakistan’s progress depends on the unity of its political parties. He affirmed that Pakistan is a sovereign nation and cannot be intimidated by external forces.
Regarding the amnesty granted to those involved in the May 9 tragedy, the advisor explained that the military follows its own procedures for justice, and that the individuals involved in the events of May 9 had formally sought forgiveness, which is why they were pardoned. He reiterated that where there is punishment, there is also room for forgiveness, and welcomed the amnesty for the May 9 offenders.
