Islamabad (News Desk) – Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah has dismissed claims that any offers have been made to the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that these are merely political statements. Speaking in a private TV interview, Sanaullah stated that the PTI founder is attempting to create a narrative and is making political remarks.

He further clarified that there were expectations that PTI members would bring forth demands, but instead, they expressed a desire to consult with the founder of PTI. Rana Sanaullah emphasized that the PTI founder’s cases are ongoing in the courts, and the government has no authority to release him, as he can only be freed through court proceedings.

On the topic of negotiations, Sanaullah stated that everyone had spoken positively during discussions, particularly Ali Amin Gandapur, who made the most constructive remarks. However, he did not believe that the issue of pardoning those involved in the events of May 9 had anything to do with the negotiations.

The Prime Minister’s Advisor also commented on the “good gesture” from the military, saying that individuals involved in crimes who seek forgiveness in writing from the Army Chief could have their sentences reduced. He clarified that there was no discussion regarding a ban on the PTI founder’s image and assured that the negotiations were not being conducted under any pressure.

Rana Sanaullah reaffirmed that issues in a democratic system can only be resolved through dialogue, which has been the government’s position from the start. He further stated that the 190 million-pound case would not impact the negotiations, and noted that military trials of civilians could occur under the Military Act, which has been in place since 1967.

He concluded by emphasizing that dialogue and trials are distinct matters. He rejected any unfounded comments, particularly regarding the possibility of former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed becoming an approver, stating that an approver is only involved in cases where evidence is lacking. Sanaullah mentioned that Faiz Hameed faces charges, and if there is progress by January 31, the time for negotiations may be extended.
