Mumbai( The COW News Digital) The high-profile ₹60 crore fraud case involving businessman Raj Kundra has taken a fresh twist after actress Shilpa Shetty broke her silence through her lawyer, Prashant Patel.
Patel issued a strong statement dismissing the allegations that Kundra transferred ₹15 crore to Shilpa’s company as “absolutely false” and “malicious.”
“This news is fake and has been spread solely to defame Shilpa Shetty in public,” the lawyer said, adding that legal defamation proceedings will soon be filed against all news channels and portals publishing the story.
The controversy began when several reports claimed that ₹15 crore out of the alleged ₹60 crore fraud amount had been transferred to Shilpa Shetty’s company. The actress has firmly denied receiving any such payment.
According to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police, Raj Kundra admitted during interrogation that a portion of the funds was paid to several film industry figures — including Bipasha Basu, Neha Dhupia, and producer Ekta Kapoor — as professional fees.
EOW continues to investigate allegations that Kundra and his associates lured investors under the pretext of loans and investments, only to allegedly misappropriate the funds. On September 15, Raj Kundra was questioned for over five hours, with investigators scrutinizing his bank transactions and financial trail.
The case remains under active investigation, and more revelations are expected in the coming weeks. Legal experts believe that Shilpa’s decision to break her silence signals a more aggressive legal defense going forward.
