DOHA (The COW News Digital) Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has called for a strong and effective response to Israel’s recent attack on Qatar, urging the global community to abandon its double standards when addressing Israeli aggression.
Speaking at a two-day meeting of Arab and Islamic nations in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed condemned the “brutal Israeli assault” and stressed that the protection of Qatar’s sovereignty is a collective responsibility of the region. He expressed gratitude to Arab and Islamic countries for their support and solidarity with Qatar at a critical time.
“The time has come for the international community to stop applying double standards and hold Israel accountable for its actions,” Sheikh Mohammed said. He underscored that Qatar will continue to pursue legal and diplomatic measures to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty, vowing that the Israeli attack will not go unanswered.
He further asserted that Israel’s actions cannot and will not derail mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. “Mediation for peace in Gaza will not stop. Israel must understand that its campaign of genocide and forced displacement of Palestinians cannot succeed,” the Qatari leader said.
The Doha summit saw Arab and Islamic leaders strongly condemning the Israeli attack and expressing unified support for Qatar’s right to defend itself. Several participants urged coordinated action at the international level, including at the United Nations, to ensure accountability for Israel’s violations of international law.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and reiterated Pakistan’s firm solidarity with Qatar. Dar praised Doha’s mediation efforts and stressed that Israeli aggression represents a grave threat not just to Qatar but to regional peace and security as a whole.
Analysts believe the strong statements from Qatar and other Muslim nations could pave the way for coordinated diplomatic action, possibly including new initiatives at the UN or other international forums. The focus, they say, will be on holding Israel accountable and preventing further escalation in the region.
Sheikh Mohammed concluded his address by emphasizing that Qatar remains committed to peace but will not compromise on its sovereignty or the rights of Palestinians, calling on the global community to act before the situation worsens further.
