In a bold move to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam has ordered the police to implement a comprehensive plan to monitor and control the movement of arms across the province. The initiative includes the deployment of body cams, video and voice recording cameras, and special reports to ensure effective policing.
Initially, 115 body cams have been installed at check posts, with additional cameras to be purchased for the remaining posts. This high-tech surveillance system will enable police authorities to strictly monitor the transportation of weapons on police pickets.
To further bolster security, the Special Branch will prepare and provide special reports on the performance of police authorities. This will help identify areas of improvement and ensure accountability.
Moreover, additional personnel have been deployed on all internal and external routes of the motorways on the Chief Minister’s special orders. This enhanced presence will deter the illegal movement of weapons and ensure public safety.
CM Maryam’s proactive approach to tackling the menace of illegal weapons is a testament to her commitment to maintaining law and order in Punjab. With this multi-faceted strategy, the province is poised to become a safer and more secure place for its citizens.
