In a remarkable achievement, public schools in Punjab have outperformed private schools in the 2024 matriculation examinations, with a pass percentage of 75.88%. Out of 1.2 million students who appeared for the exams, 929,238 passed, with public schools leading the way.
In the science group, public school students achieved a pass rate of 82.16%, with girls outperforming boys at 87.67% and 78.47%, respectively. In contrast, private school students in the science group had a pass rate of 68.47%, with girls at 78.96% and boys at 57.98%.
Similarly, in the humanities group, public school students performed better, with a pass rate of 67.89%, compared to private schools at 47.96%. Girls from public schools in the humanities group achieved a pass rate of 73.81%, while boys achieved 55.98%.
The results varied across educational boards, with Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, and Sargodha showing different pass percentages.
The Punjab School Education Department (SED) spokesperson hailed the results as a significant achievement for public schools, demonstrating their capability to deliver quality education and produce better academic outcomes compared to private institutions. This milestone highlights the importance of public schools in providing accessible and quality education to all.
